Young Carers Illustrations Project

Our Young Carers Illustrations Project has produced two beautiful and widely acclaimed picture books “ Young Carers in Bunnyland “ and “ Young Carers in Space”. These are supplied with an activity book and stickers and come from the imagination of the brilliant Brazilian author and illustrator Ana Graça. The arts monthly periodical K-Mag commented that “In a world full of digital noise the work of Ana Graça whispers something softer: warmth, magic and childhood wonder”. We couldn’t agree more and are delighted to have Ana making these wonderful books for us.
Ana’s books have been produced based on conversations with young children who are carers.. We have now distributed over twenty seven thousand copies of these across all four nations in the UK. Ana’s picture books tell stories about a six year old young carer called Honey and her friends..They have lots of adventures, including a trip to outer space and then, by magic, getting turned into bunny rabbits!
Ana’s books have now also been adapted to be available in Kamishibai style and, through adaption of this format, are being shared online. Kamishibai is a traditional Japanese storytelling method that involves using large picture card and the name translates to “Paper Theatre”.. The idea is that the narrator tells the story and involves the children in discussion about what is happening throughout the telling of the tale. The Kamishibai versions of the picture books have been adapted so that they can be used as PowerPoint presentations for use at school assemblies.
